Stories

Everyone has a story

Everyone

And everyone of those stories can teach us something

Something even if it is an outright lie

Outright nonsense

Outright lies and nonsense can teach us a lot

About the person telling them

About why we need to be careful in what we accept

Often time we accept stories without considering their truth or accuracy

These stories when spread in the public domain can cause untold harm

Sometimes they are helpful in righting distortions

Today though none of the above is in our mind

Rather it is how patience in listening to someone's story can have a profound impact on them

Often we have no time for each other let alone strangers

Time taken to listen to that story because it can be life changing

Recently we listened to someone's story

Really listened

And made a few comments

We parted

Months later almost by chance we met again

What a change!

Those few comments had resonated

Had caused a reappraisal

Had led to actions

Had resulted in a success

Had led to changes in other aspects of her life

All were positive and totally unexpected

What a nice feeling to have contributed

Empower someone listen to their story

Take the time

Who knows one day someone might listen to your story as we did to hers

Then you will experience how sharing can empower you

Can lead us on to greater understanding

Towards wisdom and understanding even

Stories

Everyone has one
