Nostalgia

Nostalgia has often been called a “second-order emotion”
.
This is because by definition, it puts down the present in comparison with the past.
.
Nostalgia comes from the Greek words nostos = return and algos = grief
.
Nostalgia in a way makes one feel resentful of change
.
Because by definition nostalgia is a look back in sadness.
.
It is also more often just plain inaccurate
.
This is because those good old days were nothing like the memories we hold of them
.
Our present frustration often causing us to want to dwell on times of greater comfort and pleasure
.
Times where we imagine the days were without stress
.
Days without fear or sadness
.
Days without problems
.
Hence the good old days, which selectively hold the good and bury the bad
.
For our health and well being living in the moment, this moment now is much more powerful and healthy
.
Dealing with our lives day by day
.
Looking forward gives us more strength than dreaming of a bygone mythical time in the past
.
Some times were certainly good
.
Many many more were challenging
.
Days of forgotten pain
.
Days of boredom
.
Stay in this time now the past is past
.
Let it stay there
.
Only look back in order to adjust a memory
.
Adjust it only in the light of new knowledge
.
Knowledge gained through your growing that allows you better balance and perspective
.
Nostalgia is not helpful
.
Nostalgia does nothing for you today
